WVPT Public Television
Harrisonburg, VA
This project represents significant additions, renovations and modifications to the original WVPT facilities (and its earlier additions) in Harrisonburg . They expanded by adding more than 7,000 square feet to make room for the significant modifications to the existing space. Existing conference areas were converted to digital television production and transmission facilities plus expanded storage for the existing and future broadcast tapes.
The expansion space house offices and conference facilities that allowed for the renovation of 8,000 s.f. of existing office space into additional support and production staff spaces. The studio building received a completely new electrical system. It was upgraded to give the transmission and production facilities UPS and generator protection thereby negating transmission down time and minimizing production down time. Additionally, HVAC upgrades were included to replace systems that were over extended and offered the transmission portion of the facility duplicate cooling capabilities to avoid problems that can occur with insufficient cooling during a HVAC equipment failure. This brings their facilities up to be a state of the art building in support of WVPT's state of the art digital production and transmission capabilities.
